Police and Navy in Brazil study creation of intelligence agency with U.S. support

The Federal Police of Brazil and the Navy are studying the feasability of creating for rio do Janeiro a special task force to fight against drug trafficking, arms smuggling,white collar crime and illegal migration. The model for this task force is based in a similar task force already working in the floridian location of Key West in the United States.
It will be a sort of a intelligence base, and it will receive the collaboration of liasion officers of different countries and agencies, like the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations FBI , the Drug Enforcement Agency DEA, among others.
The proposal was infprmed to the public in a press conference made by the Director of the Federal Police of Brazil Luis Fernando Correa and the Director of the U.S. Southern Command Brigadier Douglas Frasier. READ MORE HERE (in Portuguese)
