Confirmed triumph of ruling party PLD in dominican elections.
The latest bulletin of the Central Electoral Board (CRB) informed wide triumph of the ruling party, Dominican Liberation Party (PLD Partido de Liberación Dominicana) in the mid term elections last Sunday.
Also, 31 of 32 Senate seats, PLD will have 105 deputies in the lower house and 10 of 20 deputies in the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN).
For their part, the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) main opposition force was left out of the running in the Senate that was already expected and only 73 of its candidates won congressional seats, two Nacional and 10 for PARLACEN informed a report.
In municipalities PRD was a little more successful although a minority of 520 councilors, 87 mayors and 317 council members.
The group of President Leonel Fernandez won 573 councilor posts, 150 mayors and 370 council members and its ally, the Christian Social Reformist Party (PRSC) won one senatorial post and 37 councilors and 2 mayors and 15 council members.
PRSC spokespersons said that during the last presidential elections it fell to third place in voterâ�Ös preference, less than 5 percent of ballots although informed that they are in a process of recovery.
A CRB bulletin released after counting almost 98 percent of the electoral colleges confirms the disaster suffered by PRD in which some of the leaders began a campaign in two directions.
The first was to demand a revision of the ballots and the second to demand a reorganization of the party that implies requesting the resignation of its current president, Miguel Vargas. READ MORE HERE
