Prime Minister of Peru, Javier Velásquez Quesquén
The peruvian Prime Minister Javier Velásquez Quesquén said that the intelligence services of Peru have information on sectors related to the terrorist organization Shining Path (Sendero Luminoso) advocating subversive ideology in five universities in the country, a situation that is being investigated by prosecutors. “We do not want to generate a climate of concern or fear in the country. All the information is managed by the intelligence services, and has processed and being delivered to the Public Ministry,” he said.
According to these police intelligence reports, various agencies of the line pro Shining Path and sector Solucion Politica have a presence in five public universities in the country, in addition to San Marcos: La Cantuta, UNI, Universidad Nacional (Huancayo) Huacho University and San Cristobal de Huamanga.
In regard to this new development , the Minister Xavier Velasquez agreed with the deans of the public universities to facilitate the development of intelligence activities that lead to protect people against any attempt of subversive infiltration.
