New Brazil Elections Poll: Dilma Rousseff (government-PT party) leads with 39% against 34% of José Serra.

The presidential candidate of the Workers Party (PT) already in government, Dilma Rousseff, leads the presidential race with 39% of the vote, against 34% of the PSDB candidate, Jose Serra, according to a poll conducted by Ibope released on Friday (6) by the national journal O Estado do Sao Paulo.  The candidate of the PV to the Presidential Palace, Marina Silva, records a  low 8%.

This poll gave the same figures as the latest research released on Ibope Friday (31).

According to the survey, the “blank and spoiled” ballots amounted to about 7%. While 12% of respondents did not know or no answer. The margin of error is two percentage points.

Ibope also ran a simulation of a runoff between Dilma and Sierra, and the candidate of the pro government PT appears with 44% to 39% of the opposition candidate.

Commissioned by Globo TV and the newspaper O Estado de S. Paul, the survey was conducted between July 31 and Aug. 6.
