Russian arms exporter, Rosoboronexport, this year achieved a record business for more than 10 billion dollars.

Despite the loss of contracts with Iran because of UN sanctions, the agreements signed by the company this year exceed the $ 600 million in 2009, said its chief executive, Anatoly Issaykin was quoted by the Interfax news agency reproduced by DPA.

Russia is one of the three largest arms exporters in the world alongside the United States and France. In the past decade amounted to more than double its sales. Among its major customers include Algeria, China, India and Venezuela.

Issaykin said that Rosoboronexport is unaware of any “absolute taboo” when it comes to concrete agreements. The company ponders why the sale of arms to countries in crisis such as Iraq or Afghanistan, after consulting with the United States.

On the contrary, the Kremlin halted in September, the sale of a missile defense system to Iran due to the international dispute over its nuclear program .

The russians also stopped the signing of an agreement to deliver missiles to Syria antibarco, due to criticism from the United States and Israel.
