Venezuelan Foreign Relations Minister Nicolas Maduro announced critical health of Hugo Chavez

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro said President Hugo Chavez is fighting for his life, referring to the health situation of the venezuelan colonel, after undergoing surgery for a pelvic abscess in Cuba and without knowing a precise diagnosis. Unofficialy, rumours in Venezuela are mentioning an advanced prostate cancer.

“The battle that President Chavez is giving for his health must be the battle of all, the battle for life, for the immediate future of our country. This is what we convey to our citizens,” said Maduro.

The Chancellor supports Chavez in “this great battle for his health and hopefully Chavez will win this great final battle and obtain a great victory for our people,” the minister added.

The chancellor also said that the Venezuelan president is in charge of government and that he is kept informed of everything. “We have maintained contact with him,” told the head of the Venezuelan diplomacy. “he is kept informed of all the country’s affairs, he is in charge.”

On a less dramatic tone, Nicolás Maduro also made reference to expressions of affection for Chavez received from different countries. “We have received letters from presidents and prime ministers from around the continent, the world, Europe, Asia.  The world is expectant for hiss situation, and accompanying President Chavez at this time in his final battle to restore his health” .

Maduro took the opportunity to “thank all the Venezuelan people for its solidarity and good wishes for our President.”

“We have to thank all women and men of all ages and sectors, and has really been a huge event, a wave of solidarity and good wishes that he must continue,” the minister said.
