CARACAS, July 1 –  Using cuban television, and reading a 15 min statement, a thinner President of Venezuela Cnel. Hugo Chávez (56) acknowledged he had two surgeries for cancer. His announcement shaked the political system in Venezuela, alarming supporters counting on him to win re-election in 2012.

A somber Chavez, not as loquacious as usually, 56, confirmed  he had undergone surgery in Havana to remove a cancerous tumour and was receiving more treatment, maybe chemotherapy. His treatment will take some more time, so the next July 5th Summit in Caracas was postponed. He also  said he needed time to go trough treatment and recover before returning to Venezuela to run his “socialist revolution”.

Rumours in Caracas informed that there is a struggle within his political supporters to find one posible replacement for Hugo Chavez, in case he does not recuperate his health. Could be his brother Adan, could be one of his Ministers. It will be difficult that the current vicepresident will assume power.
