We heard…that Venezuela Denies ETA Member Presence
Caracas, Mar 12 The Venezuelan Government ruled out on Friday the entry of a member of the Basque ETA organization, as suspected by Spanish authorities, says a cable from cuban Prensa Latina.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro informed that after receiving information from the Spanish Embassy, an operation was carried out on Thursday, including a thorough inspection of the flight on which that person was suposed to arrive.
Maduro explained that after the detention in Portugal of a Basque citizen wanted for its ETA membership, as he tried to take a plane bound for Venezuela, there was suspicion that another ETA member was on board.
He said that, based on information gathered, President Hugo Chavez ordered a thorough search of the plane and that person was not found.
